Originally from Nashville, Nick attended high school in Marietta Georgia. Nick was a four sport athlete in high school participating in football, wrestling, track and field, and rugby. His 1st year of rugby resulted in his selection to the USA U19 rugby squad. His senior year he was voted MVP and captain of his high school football team as well as captain of the 2008 Georgia rugby state champion team. Nick was introduced to Crossfit in 2008 through close friend and crossfit athlete Brandon Phillips after he returned from a rugby tour in England and was seeking new ways to challenge himself in the weight room.
Upon graduation Nick accepted a congressional recommendation and an offer to play football from the United States Merchant Marine Academy where he started as a linebacker. While there his training caught the interest of his friends and classmates who soon joined him and started what would become an unofficial crossfit club.
After 2 years he was offered a scholarship to play D1 rugby for Arkansas State University which he accepted and is now a part of the starting 15 which he fully credits crossfit for helping to achieve. Interested in pursuing crossfit in its entirety, Nick became a level 1 trainer in July 2012 and began working at Crossfit870 in August 2012.
Nick embraces crossfit as both strength and conditioning program as well as a way of life. He loves it for its intensity, passion, and it’s community centered mindset.
Nick has recently graduated from ASU with his bachelors in Exercise Science. While completing it, he has worked with the ASU Rugby team and worked as a Strength and Conditioning coach during their national championship run @ the 7’s tournament in 2012 and 2013.
